The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Dean Stock, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.

It was moved by Bensley and seconded by Hecht to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all, motion carried.

Peg Dettmann, Sac County Veteran’s Affairs Director, advised the Board of a grant available through the State of Iowa to be used at the county level for veteran’s affairs programs.

It was moved by Bensley and seconded by Hecht to approve the application for $10,000.00 in state grants to be used for Veteran’s Affairs. Ayes all, motion carried. It is understood that any part of the grant awarded to the County that is not spent by the end of the fiscal year will be returned to the State of Iowa.

At 10:15 AM, the Chairman opened the public hearing to consider the second reading of an ordinance providing certain penalties for not obtaining permits, exemptions etc. as prescribed by county ordinance or state statute. There was no one present to support or oppose the ordinance.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Bensley to close the public hearing at 10:25 am. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Bensley to call for the third and final reading of the above described ordinance on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at 10:15 am. Ayes all, motion carried.

It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Bensley to abate taxes in the amount of $58 on a Building on Leased Land located on the South 20’ of Lot 4 and all of Lot 5, Armstrong’s 2nd Addition to the Town of Lake View. Ayes all, motion carried.

The County Engineer updated the Board on activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.

There was brief discussion regarding a request to vacate a dirt road through the center of Section 6, Wall Lake Twp. No action was taken.

With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
