The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with a quorum present. Rick Hecht was absent.
The minutes of the last meeting were approved as submitted.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Bensley to amend the agenda to include consideration on 28E agreement
with Dept. of Natural Resources, bids on courthouse roof project, and DD 274. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Bensley to table any action on signing a 28E agreement with the
Iowa State Association of Counties to provide an electronic transaction clearinghouse in compliance with the
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 when conducting common health care transactions. Ayes all, motion carried.
The Board of Supervisors received one bid for replacing the roof on the Sac County Courthouse. The bid submitted
by JR Roofing of Le Mars, Iowa totaled $80,350.00, including the removal of four layers of shingles and replacing with a
commercial metal roofing system. It was moved by Stock and seconded by Bensley to reject the bid as submitted and
direct the county auditor to re-advertise for a bid letting for a later date. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Bensley to approve the extension of a 28E agreement with the
Dept. of Natural Resources to cover the costs of vacated well closings. Ayes all, motion carried.
LuAnn Pugh from the Child Support Recovery Agency presented statistics on the agency and discussed
extending the contract with that agency through 2008. No action was taken pending further discussion with the
County Attorney. The Board will meet again with Ms. Pugh and her supervisor, on June 10, 2003, at 10:30 AM.
The Sac County Board of Supervisors met via telephone conference with the Buena Vista County Board
of Supervisors to review bids for a cleanout project on DD 274. The two lowest bids submitted were $28,608.56
from L. A. Carlson and $34,263.00 from Spring Lake Construction.
It was moved by Jim Gustafson from
Buena Vista County and seconded by Dean Stock from Sac County to accept the low bid of $28,608.56 submitted
by L. A. Carlson. Ayes all, motion carried. County Engineer Ron Haden gave a report on the activities of the
county road crews including hauling gravel, tile repair and road culvert replacement. The Board was informed that the
contractor is expected to start shouldering the County Road M 50 project this week.
Jeff White, from the Tri Leaf Corp., was present to update the Board on the cleanup of contaminated soil on
the former Otis Schultz gas station property. Mr. White offered a progress report and offered several options on the
completion portion of the project. The Board requested that the options be offered in written form within the next few weeks.
No action was taken.
