NOTICE !

We can no longer accept passport applications in the
Sac County Recorder’s Office due to the fact The U.S. Department of State
is enforcing a long standing policy
that an agency cannot exist as a “dual functioning agency.”

This means that if we issue ‘certified birth certificates’, we cannot, without restructuring, also accept passport applications.

We still take PASSPORT PHOTOS in the Recorder’s Office - two for $10.00.

The Sac County Auditor’s Office is working on the certification program
to be able accept passport applications - just waiting on the final approval. So for now
you will need to call Buena Vista, Crawford, Carroll or Calhoun Counties to
process your first time application.

PASSPORT INFORMATION

We still take PASSPORT PHOTOS in the Recorder’s Office:

Two photos are $10.00. (Dark clothing is preferred). It is recommended that you apply early as processing times are 4-6 weeks (as of May 17, 2011).

If it is necessary to expedite your application (which takes from 2 to 3 weeks, as of May 17, 2011, to process) the cost is $93.26 in addition to the $135.00 regular passport fee.

The Passport Agency now offers "Passport Cards."
The cards are only good for driving - no flying. Details

IN ORDER FOR US TO PROCESS YOUR APPLICATION,

You will need to take the following items:

Completed applications, and we must see you sign application.
Certified copy of your birth certificate, hospital certificate not acceptable.
Previous passport if you have one, which may be used instead of certified copy of birth certificate; however, if you are under 14, you must always submit your birth certificate for proof of parental identification.
Two recent identical photos that meet passport requirements.
Driver's license, which will be used as an identifying document; a Driver's PERMIT is not acceptable.
If you are under 16 or do not have a driver's license, you will need a parent with you (or other appropriate identification) in order for us to process your application.
Appropriate fees, with checks payable to Sac County Recorder.
