On Saturday, November 7, the Sac County Veteran's Affairs Commission will be hosting a Veterans Appreciation Day. This event will be held in the 4-H Building at the Sac County Fairgrounds, Sac City, from 11 - 3.

The Commission would like to offer a door prize consisting of two round trip tickets to Washington, D.C. We would need to raise $750. that calculates to 40 donations of $18.75 each. All veterans attending will enter the drawing, and our guest speaker will do the drawing at 4:00. The veteran does not have to be present to win, but must register at the event between 11 - 3. All donors will be recognized in the gift package. Be kind and help us make this happen for one lucky veteran and his/her guest.

After 3:00, the doors will be open to the public. Betty Nielsen, better known as the Freedom Quilt Lady, will give a presentation at 4:00. Betty and her quilters have completed over 6,600 quilts. They now do quilts for military families who have lost servicemen and women in Iraq and Afghanistan. Betty and her husband, Dennis, are both Air Force Veterans. This is an opportunity to hear a remarkable story from a remarkable woman.
